The Panthers continued to build the quality of their depth by drafting linebacker Luke Kuechly (prospect write up here) out of Boston College with the ninth pick in the NFL draft.
Kuechly, who won the Butkus Award as the nation’s top college linebacker and the Bronko Nagurski Award as the best defensive player overall in 2011, comes to a Panthers team that was destroyed by linebacker injuries last season and looks to get significant playing time right off the bat.
He is a tackling beast and will give the Panthers and extremely deep linebacker corps that already includes Jon Beason, Thomas Davis, James Anderson, Jordan Senn. If Beason and Davis can stay healthy the Panthers could have one of the more skilled linebacker groups in the league.
Couldn’t have said it better myself
