During the past 5 years or so the New Orleans ‘Aints have been one of the premiere franchises in the NFL. Despite their previous successes they have had one of the worst offseasons for a NFL team in recent memory.
Coming off a divisional round loss to the 49ers, they were hit with Bounty-Gate which sent everything else in tailspin. Suspensions to both coaches and players have left holes at key positions, including head coach and defensive captain. On top of the suspensions they lost free agents Carl Nicks and Robert Meachem to other teams. They were stripped of their 2012 2nd round draft pick and if all that wasn’t enough they have a full blown shitstorm on their hands with the Drew Brees contract situation. In other words, its been a little rough.
To the ‘Aints credit they did manage to resign Marques Colston which was necessary to keep their high octane offense on track. The loss of Meachem won’t be too detrimental because they’re stacked with wide receiver talent.
Even with the additions of talents such as Ben Grubbs and Curtis Lofton the ‘Aints have had about as bad of an offseason as a team could have.
